Suicide Attempts among Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Adults

The report, Suicide Attempts among Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Adults, provides an analysis of responses to the National Transgender Discrimination Survey (NTDS). This analysis is part of a study conducted by Ann P. Haas and Philip L. Rogers of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and Jody L. Herman of UCLA Law School's Williams Institute. Assembly Bill (A.B) 1577: Respect After Death Act

California's Respect After Death Act (AB 1577) passed in the Assembly by a bipartisan vote of 61-3. The bill will clarify that, for a transgender person who has passed away, that the "sex" information on the death certificate will indicate the person's gender identity if the authority is presented with documentation of that gender identity, such as written instructions from the deceased person confirming their wishes, and updated birth certificate or driver's license, or evidence of medical treatment for gender transition.
